Pasadena Roof Orchestra

PRO

SWING THAT MUSIC!

For over thirty years the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, based in the UK, has delighted audiences all over the world with its mix of swing and hot dance music. Swing is much more than a musical genre, it personifies a lust for life, with its infectious beat. Its roots lie in the pre war dance bands, and the roaring twenties which inspired the later big swing bands. In contrast to many other musical genres swing has never really gone out of fashion over the decades, particularly in recent years. The Pasadena Roof Orchestra has played an important role in this resurgence of popularity.

In the past, the orchestra’s kind of music provided a boost in the background to some calamitous times, pre and post war. Today, not only is the orchestra bringing its music to young audiences all over the world, it is introducing new generations of young musicians to the music. The reputation of the orchestra is as legendary in its own right, as the bands from the 1920’s and 1930’s that inspired it.

 *THE BIG EASY *

the big easy

THE BIG EASY  is a 7-piece jazz/blues band. Comprising;   The Preacher – lead vocals, guitar, harp .. Martin Barter – keyboards, vocals .. Rod Boatswain – tenor sax, b’king vox .. Andy McIntyre – trumpet .. Steve Sage – bass, percussion .. Brendan Rayner – drums, percussion.

The popular outfit covers the very best of ‘good time’ jazz, blues and rhythm & blues – or ‘Jooz’ as they call it. THE BIG EASY are a workmanlike band who deliver with energy and style a fine selection of classic numbers, right across the board, from the 1930s to the present day. From Louis Prima to Van Morrison, Ray Charles to Jools Holland. Indeed, they feel comfortable in declaring that they have ‘something for everyone’. Aint no sitting back when THE BIG EASY  hit town .. prepare yourself for an evening of hot, steamy ‘raucous & roll’ !  from the coolest, most cruelest band on the planet !

Steve ‘Big Man’ Clayton declares: “a terrific live band”  .. “good time guaranteed” !
Kirsty Blakeman of Liverpool Maritime Festival states:  “The Big Easy went down a storm” !  Birmingham International Jazz Festival:  “a knock out” !  While Brian Pretty of Lichfield Jazz&Blues Festival enthuses: “a full on, party band .. they even had me up dancing” !

The band in-demand burn rubber the length and breadth of the UK, performing at jazz clubs, festivals, functions, corporate and events of all shapes and sizes – not to mention a millionaires wedding !

The Big Easy  have gone from strength to strength since forming some 3 years ago and have gained admirers from all corners of the music scene mainly due to their appealing renditions of classic jazz and blues numbers and thoroughly entertaining and energetic live shows. Indeed, Big Bear Music were impressed enough to invite them to perform in the Birmingham International Jazz Festival 2006. Whilst also taking in the Coventry Jazz Festival and Town & Country Festival the same year and being featured on CWR radio, Heart fm and Touch fm along the way. Continuing the festival trail in 2007 the band were featured in the Liverpool Maritime Event at Wellington Dock,  the Lichfield Real Ale and Jazz & Blues Festival and ArtsFest in Birmingham. 2008 sees The Big Easy  take to the stage at the massive Americana Festival in July, while taking in the huge Godiva Festival the same month.

In august the band was invited to perform live on Wedding Breakfast TV (Sky channel 277) and received considerable feed-back from viewers. Red TV is now also lining up the band for a session in April 2008.

The Preacher has been described as: “possibly the best around in what he does” .. “a vocalist of great dexterity and power”. While the band’s undoubted skills as vocalists, musicians and arrangers (check out their version of ‘can’t buy me love’ or ‘mojo’ for example)  is now taking them into the big league. It is therefore no surprise that The Big Easy  is attracting much interest. Nowhere else will you see such a band - they are unique. With such a fast growing reputation they are quite simply becoming a band difficult to ignore.

The Big Easy - one of the UK’s premier jazz/blues outfits !

Jive Aces

The Jive Aces are one of the hardest-working bands in show business today, performing over 300 shows a year in so far over 25 different countries. They have appeared on literally hundreds of TV and radio shows all over the world. Click here to see what people are saying about the Jive Aces.

A group of lads from London were drawn together by their love for a style and music that outclassed anything around. The music was hot jive that had the beat, energy and enthusiasm of rock ‘n’ roll and the fun and rhythm of big band swing all rolled into one.

Their musical journey took them from Elvis Presley to Bill Haley and from Louis Prima to Frank Sinatra. This was the sound that excited the guys so much that they quickly started dancing and would often be seen tearing up the floor when hot bands came to town. The dancing became a musical learning ground with one common theme: foot tapping, swinging, spirit-raising fun. The lads loved dancing but it was difficult finding bands that they could really swing to, so they turned ttheir talents to making hot music themselves.

They began as the “Aces of Rhythm”, a guitar based rhythm band which was later added to by horns becoming the “Emperors of Rhythm”. Soon they had a good following in London and changed their name again to the “Blues Busters”. This latest name change didn’t last long, however, as there was already a band of the same name. By popular request they recorded their first vinyl single and the record company wanted to know what to call the band as they had the disc on the press and no name. “The something Aces” said Ian hastily, “but what?” “Jive! The Jive Aces” shouted Ken down the phone to the record company. And so the Jive Aces were born. After the release of their first CD, “Jumpin’ with the Aces” in 1992, the groups’ popularity spread like wildfire throughout Europe and the UK and since that time they have continued to tour every year.

From their first concert on the 14th January, 1989 in Paris, the Jive Aces were a hit. Their wild, high-energy floorshow soon became their trademark and people of all ages came to see the lively band give them what they wanted — pure entertainment.
